I'm a Colombian-American was born in Bogota, Elvira Buitrago, as I’m known to my friends, moved to the USA in 2000 and have been living in Tampa since 2005. I have a degree in Interior Decoration, where I found my calling in doing elaborate compositions for local businesses. I expanded my training under the guidance of an art instructor in Bogota. My work has been mostly in geometric and 3-dimensional works of art inspired by Colombian artists. Over time I have developed my own techniques and designs accentuating my works in three dimensions
I have participated in several exhibitions in which some of my works have been awarded.
My goal is to grow more as an artist and to share my knowledge with others. I believe that we have to strengthen and work for the Hispanic community. My conviction is that we are not alone and therefore that united and informed together we can achieve a better future.
“The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.”
